SCV Airs Ads on Television

Compatriots,

We live in an exciting time for our organization where the opportunity for education and growth is endless. When I ran for LTCIC I set a number of goals and objectives that I wanted to reach for the betterment of our beloved organization. One of these goals was to run commercials ads, which have just begun. The positive feedback I have received around the Confederation has been wonderful.

Working with Past LTCIC Ron Casteel and Commander Mark Johnson of the Norfolk County Grays Camp 1549, we began updating and upgrading the two National SCV ads entitled "Ashes" and "Graves". The cost for this was $250. These commercials are now being ran in the Northern Virginia, Macon, and Pensacola -Mobile - Fort Walton Beach areas.

Adding the new recruitment website 1800MYSOUTH.com to these ads and other print ads, allows GHQ to keep track on how potential members hear about the SCV. These commercials have run without issue through Cox Media in Tidewater/ Peninsula area of the Virginia Division for the last two years. One of the channels that I chose as a potential market was the History Channel via Cox Media. The History Channel through Cox Media is shown in Northen Virginia and the Tidewater (Norfolk-Portsmouth-Newsport News), Macon, the Gulf Coast (Pensacola-Mobile-Fort Walton), Baton Rouge and Lafayette, LA, Washington D.C. Gainesville, FL and Fayetteville, AR.

The Georgia Division has also taken the initiative to create twelve ads in hope of increasing its membership. They are to be commended for this bold step and it is hoped that others will follow. Unfortunately their ads were rejected by the History Channel's home office in New York City. We hope the History Channel will reconsider and show their ads in the future.

The objective was to get the ads on tv and this has been done. The ads will soon be available through GHQ and it is our hope that the camps will obtain these to run on their local channels. Can you imagine if every camp in the SCV ran these ads? The potential for growth would be phenomenal.
