MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) — Three Montgomery teens who have been charged with vandalizing a 109-year-old Confederate monument at the state Capitol will be tried as juveniles.
Montgomery County deputy district attorney Tim Tyler said it wouldn't be reasonable to try the 17-year-olds as adults under Alabama law. But that decision drew criticism from a member of a Confederate heritage group that offered a $1,000 reward in the case.
